Current Gameweek differentials

Differentials are most useful when they increase your upside without breaking the logic of the squad. Low ownership is not a quality signal on its own, so this page focuses on when a differential is actually worth the risk.

Low ownership is a tool, not a target

A differential should change the shape of your rank outcome, not simply make your team unusual. The question is not whether a player is low-owned, but whether the player is good enough to justify the additional volatility. When managers chase uniqueness for its own sake, they often create downside without securing meaningful upside.

That is why the best differentials usually look fairly normal from a football point of view: strong role, useful fixture, and enough minutes security to keep the bet sensible.

Look for secure minutes

The thinner the ownership, the less margin you have for a weak role. If a player is low-owned because their place is uncertain, that uncertainty is not a feature. Differentiate with quality, not with avoidable fragility.

Reliable starters are easier to trust because they keep open more ways to collect points. This is particularly important if the differential is also competing with a more popular safe option in the same price bracket.

Prefer multiple routes to points

Returns that depend on a single low-probability event are difficult to rely on. A useful differential is more attractive when the player can score through more than one route: goals, assists, bonus potential, or role-based involvement that shows up even when the game script changes. This makes the pick more resilient and less dependent on one perfect moment.

That does not guarantee a haul, but it improves the quality of the gamble.

Use differentials to match your season state

If you are protecting a strong rank, the bar for a differential should be higher. If you need to gain ground, a thoughtful differential can be one of the clearest ways to create upside. The point is to match the risk to the situation rather than following a blanket rule to always be safe or always be different.

Differentials work best when the reason for the pick is obvious and explainable. If the choice only sounds exciting because it is unusual, it is probably not strong enough.

DEFCON CHECKDefensive contributions can add a useful +2 point route

Defenders earn two points when they reach 10 clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles. Midfielders and forwards need 12, with recoveries also counting. It is especially useful when comparing centre-backs, ball-winning midfielders and players in matches where clean sheets are uncertain.
